He shrugged, "Mikal was what kept Lydia balanced. When Lydia's father died Lydia showed up in town with a cold spirit, she hated the world, for that was all the world had shown her, and her father had been her only protection from it. But Mikal steadied her out, and to Lydia Mikal was like an older sister, so Lydia was quite the personality, still quite friendly even after her father's death." He paused, "Three years ago, Mikal was involved in quite a bit of politics, women's suffrage, and anti-racism. If Mikal thought something, she said it, to whoever she thought needed to hear it. One day she said something to the wrong person, when that man started to go after her, her father stood behind her instead of telling her to shut her mouth. The man of course backed down, he was facing two of the best shots in Windy Hollow, you see Mikal's father was the sheriff of Windy Hollow, and Mikal had loved the pistols since she was eight, she had quite the shot." He sighed, "The Ku Klux Klan got wind of what had happened, and that night they set the Houchin's house on fire. Mikal took it against herself, I dunno about today, but I think she still thinks it was her fault part of her family died that night." He paused, "And because of that she dropped what she was, to protect her remaining siblings I suppose, she learned to bite her tongue and wear a dress." He puased yet again, "To Lydia it was just what she needed to be thrown off kilter, the Mikal she knew no longer existed, Mikal had been replaced with the very image she (mikal) had sworn she could never become. Lydia deemed it as a betrayal." He brought himself out of the memories once more, "A few nights after Mikal's parents died, she and Lydia got into a fight, at first it was simply with words, then with fists, who knows who started it. They were two girls dealing with an unbearable grief, both confused now. My mother showed up about the time Mikal had Lydia pinned, Danny and I helped mother pull Mikal off, and Lydia took her belongings and left, towards the mountains. I don't remember the exact words Lydia used, but basically she said that there was nobody in this world worth love of trust because in the end they all betray you." He glanced to Elsabelle, "And mother hasn't told you this has she?" He realized, why else would she ask, "And now Mikal will probably come after me for telling you, but it is alright," He smiled a little, "If there's one thing I learned from crossing Mikal, is that you better be able to run fast! And that I can do, especially since she's in a dress now." He commented quietly...
