Subject: They did the same thing on "NCIS: Los Angeles"

This week's "NCIS: Los Angeles" featured a newspaper reporter who lived in a house right on the beach!! You can correct me if I'm wrong, det, but isn't oceanfront property in southern California just a bit on the pricey side??

I'm sure reporters in Los Angeles are paid better than those in Texas, but I doubt anybody who simply worked for a newspaper (as opposed to owning one) could afford beachfront property in southern California!

I guess the reason I'm kind of sensitive to this issue is that people in my real life *do* tend to assume that reporters are much better paid than they are. Unlike teachers, who everybody accepts are not making big bucks, people seem to think the average reporter makes six figures. (It's not even half of that at all except the very largest newspapers.) People are always amazed when we tell them my husband(who is a teacher) is the primary breadwinner in our family.
