You're probably right. Sam could have been drafted at 18 for WWll or lied about his age as a friend of ours did and was only 16 when he enlisted and is now 90. Math isn't a strength of mine. I'm guessing his son was drafted at 18 which was normal in 67. The draft lottery was created in early 67. A good friend of mine won the lottery because his birthday was the first number drawn--he was 18 and in the first round.
