Subject: Netflix

After constant urging from our adult children to join the 21st century and get a Netflix account, my husband finally signed us up.

Got to say I'm quite disappointed. I guess I was (unrealistically, I now realize) expecting that it would give us access to virtually all TV shows and movies.

Instead it has a very limited number of TV shows, the majority of which are currently on TV (so that, if I was interested in watching them, I could just turn on the TV). It also contains a VERY small number of old TV shows, but not any of the ones I'd be interested in watching.

Pretty much the same sort of thing with the movies, except there it seems to be mostly movies from the 1990s and early 2000s. Virtually nothing from the past five years (i.e. movies I'd meant to seen when they were in theaters, but didn't get the chance to) but also virtually no older movies from the 1970s or earlier.

Maybe there's some sort of "prime" version of Netflix and we've just signed up for the basic version?? Because, honestly, the way people talked about this service. . .I thought it would allow me access to something other than TV shows that I'm already able to watch on my TV and 15-year-old movies.
