That was just the plot of the case involving a guy who had abused his mail order wives. The guy who played him was the same actor who played "Roland" on the Season 1 X-Files episode. Sarah got really toucy with him in the interview and then she got beligerent with Eckley. She was suspended and he told Grissom to fire her. Grissom finally found out the problem when he came to Sarah's apartment for a talk.
In a past episode we learned that Sarah was a foster kid and now we learn why. Her father was abusing her mother and her mother stabbed her father to death.
I still think it's an extremely well written show. Even if some of the episodes are a bit bizarre and I can certainly understand you're not wanting to watch (I skipped the one about the snakes!) the acting is really good and I enjoy the stories and the characters. The cast just won the Screen Actor's Guild Award for best ensemble cast.
Petersen was really surprised wondering why after all this time and he supposed it was because all the other actors must have tried acting with rubber gloves and tweasers.
