Subject: Are you paying attention Stoute?

They became division 1 in 2022 and play in the Northeast Conference and are already doing this. Where are our Bogans?

Stonehill announced a $50M campaign for athletics, including Bogan Arena (for hockey and basketball). The college retained ARC, a Boston-based architectural firm, to design it. The campaign has already raised $22.5M. Tom & Kathleen Bogan donated $15M last year on the arena.

The guy is a Trustee. Take a look at his bio. Do we have any Canisius Trustee that has this much net worth?

Thomas Bogan ’72 is an investor focused on high growth software opportunities. He previously served as CEO of Adaptive Insights, where he negotiated the 2018 sale of the company to Workday for $1.55 billion. After the sale, he acted as vice chairman of the company until January 2022. Bogan currently serves on the boards of public software companies Workday, Aspen Technology and Catapult Sports, as well as private company Reltio.

Preceding Adaptive Insights, Bogan was an investor and board member of several highly successful software companies including Citrix Systems, Apptio, Acquia and Rally Software. He was also a partner at Greylock Partners and was president and COO at Rational Software. He previously served as CEO at Avatar Technologies and Pacific Data. He has also served as CFO at SQA and Orange Nassau, Inc., as well as vice president of finance at SCA Services.

Bogan graduated from Stonehill College in 1972 with a degree in accounting. He has remained active in the College’s alumni community, having served as part of the Alumni Career Network, the W.B. Mason Forum and Reunion Class Committee. Thomas F. and Kathleen A. Bogan Hall, Stonehill’s apartment-style senior housing complex, is named after the alumnus and his wife.

Bogan graduated in 1968 from Archbishop Williams High School in Braintree, Massachusetts. He currently lives in LaQuinta, California.

Why aren't there alums with a lot of money who want to donate to the basketball program? I don't get it.

Not sure what our alums/fans have donated; but suspect little. Our NIL fund for men’s basketball is giving transfers some $240000, twice what we spent last year. Most comes from our guarantee games. This Fall we will earn roughly $90,000 f on games vs. DePaul, Duquesne, West Va. and Syracuse. On paper, Jim seems to have done well all things considered Would be g eat to see fans step up.

Is this a preview of the non-conference schedule?

You mean 90 grand each? Duquesne isn't paying what Syracuse and WV are.

The issue we don’t have any of that money coming into athletics or basketball.

Face the facts - CU is a nice school but the bulk of the kids either stay local & those who leave never reconnect with the school after they graduate.

The job market in Buffalo is not like Boston, NYC or Pittsburgh.

We’re kidding ourselves if we think we can compete with those markets. Instead make athletics a priority & part of the alumni network to build the brand of the school. Bona & Siena have done that.

[> [> [> [> [> [> Ranking of the MAAC basketball venues. -- At least we're not at the bottom, Sun, May 17 2026, 8:27:58

Consensus rankings and arena reviews in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) highlight Siena's MVP Arena and Quinnipiac's M&T Bank Arena as the top tier facilities, while older, smaller on-campus facilities like Manhattan's Draddy Gymnasium and Niagara's Gallagher Center generally rank at the bottom.

The top-rated basketball facilities in the MAAC are ranked primarily based on seating capacity, aesthetics, and game-day atmosphere:

Top-Tier Facilities1.

1.MVP Arena (Siena College): Located in downtown Albany, this is the largest arena in the MAAC with a seating capacity of approximately 15,500. It is frequently praised for its high-major feel, hosting major crowds for big games, and acting as a premier mid-major venue in the Northeast.

2. M&T Bank Arena (Quinnipiac University): Situated on the York Hill Campus, this 3,570-seat venue is generally regarded as the most visually appealing and structurally modern facility in the conference. It is part of a conjoined complex that also hosts the university's ice hockey arena.

3. Leo Mahoney Arena (Fairfield University): Opened in 2022, this modern 3,500-seat facility replaces the antiquated Alumni Hall with state-of-the-art chairback seating, premium suites, and excellent sightlines.

4. McCann Arena (Marist College): A quintessential 3,200-seat college basketball venue. It has benefited from recent upgrades and has an intimate seating bowl close to the hardwood.

Middle-Tier Facilities

5. William Pitt Center (Sacred Heart University): Recently renovated, this arena has seen significant improvements, rotating the court to maximize space and providing a solid mid-major atmosphere.

6. Hynes Athletics Center (Iona University): Located in New Rochelle, this 2,611-seat facility is compact and can be incredibly loud during rivalry matchups, though it lacks some of the luxury amenities of newer builds.

7. Knott Arena (Mount St. Mary's): A 3,120-seat arena designed with a peaked roof resembling a mountain. The high ceiling slightly muffles crowd noise, but it remains a highly respectable on-campus venue.

8. Alumni Gymnasium (Rider University): Known as the "Broncs' Zoo," this 1,650-seat gym has an incredibly tight and electric game-day atmosphere, despite being one of the smaller and older venues in the conference.

Lower-Tier Facilities

9. Koessler Athletic Center (Canisius University): Opened in 1968, this 2,196-seat arena serves its purpose well but suffers from physical limitations and an aging physical footprint.

10. Gallagher Center (Niagara University): Opening in 1949, this is the oldest arena in the MAAC. While it offers decent viewing proximity, the age of the facility limits its modern athletic amenities.

11. Draddy Gymnasium (Manhattan University): Colloquially referred to as an "aircraft hanger" by fans, this 2,345-seat gym brings the crowd right to the floor but suffers from dated infrastructure and limited modern seating.

Not listed is Merrimack or St.Peter's. Merrimack would be in the top 3rd & St. Peter's would be most likely the bottom of the MAAC.

At some point the school needs to invest in the athletic infrastructure. KAC is almost 60 years old.

I've been to Rider. It makes the KAC look like MSG. No way is it #8.

After this thread is ended, how about using "President Stoute" in the Re line?

Where is Buffalo Super Fan when we need him? I long for the days of discussing how we should all root for all of the Big 4 schools and the advantages of a suspended court that would screw into the existing floor of the KAC...
