The filly paces the frozen plains. What is to be her place in this herd? Like her mother, she craves dominance, but knows the alpha cannot yet be challenged. Even if the position were open, she would have to face her own dam for the title. She halts, dished head high, intelligent eyes taking in her surroundings.

*she may be like her dam in the thing with dominence but he hoped she would have a little more respect to the others. He smiles at her slightly. she would be under his protection only if she wanted. and her role in the herd was like the others, to be here and to live. that was all, everything else was up to him*

She turns to look at him; silent and still. Then she blows through her nostrils and takes a few easy paces forward to nibble at a shrub. We shall see.
