Well, it was a disappointment, but after all, it's not a football match or a motor race - no-one crosses the line first or scores more goals. It's art. It's all subjective.

You may like Turner, I may like Picasso. Does that make one a better artist than the other, or me a better judge than you?

On another night, with different judges, Karma might have stormed it. That's what it's all about, differences of opinion - how boring would it be if we all liked the same stuff? My beef is with the whole idea of 'battle of the bands'. I don't think Karma will be bothering again.

As you say, the best bit of the night was the DJ playing Opinion. And that is what it's all about - making friends and influencing people. I took the trouble of making sure he had a copy. I already knew he loved the band. So he played it, to everyone's delight. And that kind of thing will reap more long term benefits than a flash-in-the-pan 'b.o.t.b.' win.

Who remembers who won the last one? Not me. Did Oasis or The Stone Roses win any talent competitions? I doubt it...
