Thorn rested his head atop hers, and looked into the distance, trying hard to not to shake. 'you could never tell wrong' she had said, but Thorn was the very image of a liar if there could be such an image.
Life in the Weyr with only his untrusting father was unbearabke, Thorn was forced to stay in the Weyr, even during Hatchings for his sire wouldn't bare Thorn Impressing and learning to fight Threads..no less! Since his mother's uuntimely demise he had learned to lie, to make up stories about her, to sneak from the Wey whenever he had a chance.
To be Free...
Now he was here, to take life anew, yet could he be wrong? Could his true place not be with the Dragonkind? Should he return to his father and live as he did?
No...
He couldn't, not now, not when life had taken him on Dragon wings toward what he hoped to be a freer path.
He patted Aly's head awkwardly, "Everything will be alright," he hid his fear, the malice of his mother's leave inside him, and when he spoke, he spoke the opposite of what he felt...his voice was sincere...yet Thorn was not.
