There wasn’t really anything Arienne could say. She hadn’t known Aly or Sy, and though the loss of their lives was painful and saddening, it obviously wasn’t as… personal. But now that she knew the three remaining Candidates, and Aiko, she was worried about them. Especially Rika, who seemed, to Arienne, the only one who was still likely to suicide.

After Karsky’s… Apology, that’s what it sounded to me…, Arienne tried to think of an appropriate response, one that would comfort and assure. She couldn’t think of anything. It didn’t matter, because Karsky had turned inwards again. And then, much to her surprise, words of wisdom spouted out of young Aiko’s mouth. She couldn’t make out much of what the girl was saying, but she could see what effect it was having on Satrika. Her lips turned up into a small smile. There is no reason to worry about Rika anymore, is there, Llwyd? The blue sent his agreement.

So this is K’delek? Llwyd nodded. That was a rhetorical question, Lu. “Yes, they have,” she then assured the rider, before looking over at the three candidates and grinning shyly. She nodded at Dimath, thanking him for his apology, even though she had not known the two who had died. “I’m not a Candidate,” she added quietly. “May I stay here, though? It would have been just as bad, Rika, if you had died,” Arienne assured the girl. “Aiko would be terribly sad, I’m sure.”
