Alexei

Get off your high horse mate, as you know full well the days are long gone since their was any hierarchy of sorts in The Barmy Army. What started as a small group of backpackers in Oz has now snowballed out of all recognition. As Pakistan proves the Barmy Army name has become a vechicle for loads of new people to go away and enjoy themselves, confident in the knowledge that they'll meeet up with loads of like minded fans - Graham's tour proves the point. You don't seem to have a problem with Graham making money from his tour, why should you have a problem with Leafy and ultimately me producing 100 t-shirts which were given to Gaz to sellon (we charged him £1 more than they cost us)! Neither Leafy or I went,he was ill and just queued up to get his visa for the hell of it, so what - surely it doesn't matter whether we go or not, I don't think anyone really cares whether we were there or not. So Leafy got misquoted in The Sun, what a surprise, of course he doesn't go on every tour, to the best of my knowledge since 94 nobobody has done every tour - that's not the point, go when you can afford it and enjoy it.

I thought the guide to Australia would be useful for the many people who have enquired about the next Ashes tour. There's no cunning marketing plan here, just to pass on my own tips on how to do it as cheaply as possible. It would be great if anyone else coulds actually add to the web site with similar advice about New Zealand and India, where we haven't been. That's what the web site is for and whether you believe it or not the site costs me and Leafy a small fortune to maintain and run and as we sell about 50 shirts through the site the small profit we make doesn't even covert a fraction of the running costs. So we make some money in Australia, nobody is forced to buy a shirt and nobody has to come to the parties we organise. We both try to make sure that people enjoy their time with the Barmy Army and most people we speak to appreciate what we are trying to do. Thank goodness there's people like Gaz, Charlie and the Derby Boys who've carried on what we have started and watching the telly you did everyone back home proud, great singing,a lot of noise and passionate support. We would love more people to get involved in doing something positive for everyone in the Barmy Army, to be honest I'm sick of people slagging us off who do absolutely nothing else apart from whinge and moan. Surely it would have been better to write up a tour report of Lahore, I would have love to have heard about all the stunts and laughs you had.

With regards to the cricket tours to Ibiza, don't ever forget that a huge number of those in the Barnmy Army are actually very keen club cricketers (you only have to see how many people want to get involved in our matches overseas). So as far as i can see if Leafy organises a tour which people want to join to actually play cricket overseas then fair play to him. You never know, one day the media might actually stop labelling us as travelling footie hoolies in disguise as they actually play the game themselves. If you didn't know Leafy is actually a very good cricketer and the reason you don't see him at the home tests on a Saturday is because he is the captain of Old Hamptonians who play in the Surrey Championship.

We don't use silly names to defend ourselves on the site, Leafy can't be bothered to reply but don't get me wrong when it get personal and is totally unwarranted it does hurt and it does f**k us off big time.

Dave.
