Thanks Mars, you inspired

The Sky in Saskatchewan

East, this is where the world becomes flat again.
With five miles visibility
I can jog to the ends of the earth
where the sun and the clouds remain
parallel sisters of the canola field.

West, a casino light
swoops and rises like a beacon
warning foreign vessels
they are entering the city of bridges
and the jagged places they rush into
will send them seared and broken
into the Saskatchewan river.

North, the northern lights
light a dim path through the galaxy
for those who have stepped over the horizon.
The stars draw mazes
around their pearly bodies
and sit on their fingers like diamonds.

South, the moon is a man
and is jealous
of foreign places. It craves
a peak of mountain, a woman
head back, breasts jutting towards the sky.
