Subject: Joplin, Missouri - hit by tornado
Please pray for Joplin, Missouri. It was just struck by a multi vortex tornado this evening and there is major damage and reports of fatalities. It hit Home Depot, Walgreens, Walmart, an apartment complex, I44, many homes and caused major damage to St. John's Hospital. I also heard their second hospital, Freeman, may have been hit which is close to St. John's.
I grew up in SE Kansas (NW Missouri) area and near Joplin.

The town has been devastated. I have already heard of 5 deaths on the CB channel of Jasper County Emergency Personnel. There are still people trapped in the hospital. Video can be seen here.

At least 24 killed but that will go up. It hit so many key locations and businesses, hospital, etc. Fires breaking out. Walmart, nursing home, high school, etc. just gone. So tragic.

my daughter said there are currently tornado watches posted across the U.S. from wisconsin / michigan ...
all, the way down to texas ...
approx 10 states in total.

I am,..oh what can I say,...I am grieving for these people. We hit critical mass a while ago and I'm afraid we need to prepare for similar. The upside can be that we recognize the path, choose better and support each other. They are in my prayer.

Very sad what's happened in Joplin. I can't even begin to imagine that scope of devastation. My thoughts and prayers are with them.

My nephew and his wife heard from the Woman's Clinic in Joplin, Missouri today and she has an appointment there tomorrow morning. Looks like the baby will be born in Joplin at Freeman Hospital after all! My niece is so relieved to hear from her doctor today! She was due on May 21, so any day now.

Sadly 4 were killed and 3 critical in Oklahoma and 2 in Kansas. Storms are firing up here in KC. I hear the thunder and the TV beeped that we are under a tornado watch until 3 PM. Looks like a long night in the basement.

Not fun spending recess with scared kids in the hallway after the tornado warning sirens went off. We weren't supposed to have severe weather today! Poor Sedalia, Missouri got hit but I don't think here were any fatalities. However, I should have known it wasn't going to be a normally good day when there was a fatality wreck on the way to work. SOOOOO ready for this terrible week to be OVER!
