It's been miserable here, too. Our kids at the daycare can't even go outside because it's been so hot! :-(

I lived in TX for years and that is HOT but I cannot bear the heat here! But that might be because at least in TX they have central air. Here they must not believe in it, because I don't remember being so hot in my life!!!

Central air is wonderful or, at least, a window unit. Twenty-some people are said to have already died in the KC area with heat related illnesses. Terrible. There are cooling centers and churches and malls available but some people just don't or can't go. In this heat the just blow hot air back on people and it doesn't actually cool the body down.

We had winds, thunder and lightening last night but AGAIN NO RAIN! Aargh. The ground crunches when you walk and cracks are really opening up. The corn crop is gone, the farmers might be able to grind it and use as livestock food. Wouldn't be surprised if the price of corn spikes. If we don't get more rains soon, the soy beans will die too. August is usually the hottest, driest month!

A chance of some rain later tonight . . . I am hoping and praying.
