Subject: Thinking of you

Well, It is 1:28 am and I'm working on one of my late night "ponders".
Heard an owl outside my bedroom window tonight and it opened up a floodgate of memories. I finally decided to drag out my Christy DVDs thinking they'd help me to sleep, but they only get me all revved up.

I reconnected with an "old friend" on Sunday. She's recently moved back to Washington from Hawaii and will be working on assessment for the state so she's only sixty miles away. We drove over to the ocean and walked the beach and talked until we were both hoarse. Mostly, I do very well amusing myself, but there are times when I really miss old friends.

I missed out on California this summer when the lodge at the retreat center I was going to burned down. Someone cleaning the ashes from the fireplace dumped some embers into the trash and "that's all she wrote." They held the seminar at another location, but I was prepared to enter a "sacred space" and just couldn't make the transition. I'll try again after they rebuild.

I didn't think summer would ever arrive, but we have had at least a couple of weeks of sun and weather in the 70's. Yesterday it rained all day, but I must admit, I could hear the grass and plants heave a great sigh of relief.

I'm afraid I've not accomplished much lately. Can't seem to get started on anything. I did prepare some photos for the fair, but I couldn't find the guidelines anywhere and never having entered anything in a fair before, did not prepare them properly and they wouldn't accept them so I guess I'll just wait and submit them next year. I continue to work on the drums and technique improves with each batch.

I've been spending much of my time reading all that "trashy" stuff I ignored for years and am currently hooked on all things Stephen Fry especially a British show called QI. Total trivia, but I love it.

Thursday, Mary and I are headed east of the mountains to orchard country to pick up peaches to can and her stepson delivered eight pink salmon (Sah- mon) for her to smoke. (Pink is really to mushy for much else,)

Well, I missed my favorite bits of "Both Your Houses" so I guess I'll go back and try it again.

Sorry for being so verbose.

LauraG
