I too have taught for many years and am concerned with how education and educators are being singled out. We are a small district and are having to cut about half a million out of the budget. I am also on negotiations and get to hear how we teachers make too much, need to have benefits reduced etc. I am also concerned about being evaluated on exams my students are required to take. I can control my instruction , but I cannot control so many factors in their lives that will effect their scores. One of the tests we take is also self adjusting as they take it so I have no clue what questions or set of questions they received on the test for me to alter my instruction. I also struggle with our "standards" that are based on that assessment. Needless to say when I went to my chiro. this week I did some emotional release and am trying to do some meditation and positive affirmations since I am really stressed and find myself more in a negative state of mind. Esp. since we in Iowa are right by all the stuff going on in Wisconsin and similar legislation is in Iowa too. I could go on and on BC. I am excited you are going through the steps to be an educator (learning facilitator), but it is definitely a changing atmosphere right now.

I appreciate your response Jenn!
You made some excellent points!
And, I agree ...
when it comes time for testing ...
- there are so many factors involved in the outcome and final scores they receive.
