wish i could play the mandolin ...

Bill Monroe is one of my "heroes" ...
- during the summer, while spending time on the TN River with my Grandpa ...
- among other things, Grandpa taught me to love and appreciate bluegrass music ...
- every Saturday night we'd listen to the Opry ...
- it was always "very cool" when Bill Monroe was one of the performers ...
- i can remember my Grandpa singin' this song while walking along the path to his boat dock on the river ...
- his voice would carry across the water ...
- and, he kinda sounded like Bill ...
- at least in my opinion ...

btw, i realize for some "bluegrass" is - or, must be -an "acquired taste" ...
but, thanks for listenin' and allowing me to share ...

ok, you talked me into it ...
just a few, more then i gotta go ...

Ha!
I just made Mary sit through a documentary on the history of Bluegrass the other night. I can't say that I own any albums but I grew up with the sound. My dad was a fan of the Opry and country music. I only remember my dad singing in my ear and it always made me laugh...could have been the saddest song in the world, but the vibrations tickled. (Of course, you're talking to someone who regularly got sent away from the table for getting everyone to start laughing, So it wasn't hard. )
There goes our old friend coincidence, again.
Taught kindergarten this afternoon. Taught them how to play "Drop the Hanky" (having to explain what a hanky was of course) and "Twidily, Twidily Dee I See Something that starts with...." I forgot how fast those little buggers were ... Little hard on the knees of a 60+ year old.

Focus on those finals.
