Subject: chameleons ...

monday afternoon "funny" from Elijah ...
one of my 5th grade passeners ...

Elijah: "Ms. C, got a joke for ya ..."

me: "ok!" :)

Elijah: "ummm, it's kind of a 'blonde joke'...ok?!"

me: "well ... ok ..."

One day ...
a blonde, a brunette, and a redhead were contestants on this game show - kinda like "You Could Be a Millionaire" or somethin' like that?! :)
and, this guy told 'em ...
"See those 100 stairs ..."
"at each stair you will be told a joke, if you laugh at a joke - you lose ..."
"but, if you make it all the way to the 100th stair without laughing - you win $1,000,000!"
"So the brunette started up the stairs ... but, at the 55th stair she laughed ..."
"Then, the redhead started up the stairs ... but, at the 79th stair she laughed ..."
"Then, the blonde started up the stairs and made it to the 100th stair! ... but then ... she started laughing too ... non stop!"
Shocked! The guy asked her why she had laughed?!" ....
While still laughing ...
the blonde replied ...
"I finally got the first joke!" :)

So, i then asked Elijah ....
"Do you want to be a comedian when you grow up!"
his reply ...
"Yep! That would be fun!" :)

A younger passenger - Allie / first grader said to Elijah with astonishment ...
"Elijah? You want to be a Chameleon?!" :)

also while on the way home today ...
my elementary students were discussing birthdays ...
specifically the year in which they were born ...
most of them born after the year 2000 ...

so, i asked them ...
"try to guess what year i was born?"

first answer ...
1982 ...
"nope" i said "but, one of my sons was born that year!"

second ...
1965 ...
"nope, try again!" :)

third ...
1955 ...
"good guess! you're close! it's 1957!"

one of my third graders then asked ...
"Ms. C? Then how old are you gonna be on your next birthday?!"

"54"

"54?!" ...
"Aren't people that old supposed to have grey hair?!" :)

ROFL!!! That is so me! The blonde, not the chameleon ;P I think my grandma wins, though, because she's infamous for figuring out a joke right before falling asleep!

re: hair color ...
at my age ...
it's kind of a "chameleon" process in and of itself ...
original color: dark, dark brown
"transitional" color: if it didn't "change" colors, it would be dark brown with one grey streak runnin' down the back of my head - kinda like a "skunk"! :)
my "color preference" by l'oreal: black! :)

re: your grandma ...
at our age (hers and mine) it's not all that unusual to have a "delayed response" from time to time! :)

BC,

Those were priceless! I had a 6 year old tell me the other day, "when you die, I'll fix a big bowl of your favorite dessert and put it on your grave!" It was very difficult to thank her for her generosity and keep a straight face!
