Subject: music vid for SFM

- i'm not sure where the extra added "coloration" came from in the vid ... guess it happened (and, was added) sometime during the uploading process onto youtube ...
- anyways ...
- this is a music vid of "Whitetail Junction" performing earlier today in Lebanon, TN at IMA Crossfit
- my oldest son is the drummer
- the rest of the group? guess you could say i've "adopted" them?!
- just wanted to share it with ya!

*** the puppy wearing the "Rocky" t-shirt is my "spoiled-rotten rottie" named, Toby! :)

I thought the color was cool! It added to the rustic-ness of the music, which was fabulous and made me miss living in the South :) And of course Toby has a "Rocky" t-shirt :P Did you make it yourself or can you buy them for dogs? Minta has been begging for some new clothes (although hers would probably be quite frilly since her mama is picking them out) and she's just going to use this as yet another reason why I need to get her some!

- thanks! i kinda like the extra-added effect too! :)

re: the "Rocky" shirt ...
- a few years ago, i received two identical "Rocky" shirts 'round about the same time from two different people - one from LauraG and the other from Reda (i've always heard great minds think alike! :) ... anyways, i decided after adopting Toby that i'd keep one for myself and make a few alterations so that he would also have one to wear (seeing that he is also a "Rocky" fan :)! ...
- later on, i'd also like to see if i can find a kilt to fit Toby too! :)
- is "Minta" the name of your puppy?! if so, what kind of dog is she?

Sorry! Need to check back in here more often . . .

Yup, Minta is my puppy! It is short for Araminta, which I read in a gothic novel a while ago and thought I would name my daughter that. I don't think my mom liked the idea for her granddaughter, so when I remembered it when trying to think of dog names, she encouraged me to go for it, lol! My dog, Piccolo, died last September, and it broke my heart :( I knew she was dying all summer and I had read it was good to get another dog when the older one was going. It made it easier on everyone, including the older dog, who would know his or her family would be taken care of. I looked around at all kinds of pet adoption sites and rescue sites, but none of them really spoke to me. A few weeks before Piccolo died, I saw a new puppy available one one of the Jack Russell breeder's site that I liked that I knew was "the one". The shape of her eyes was different and reminded me of Piccolo's. It made me feel better knowing I would be able to see Piccolo's eyes even if she wasn't alive anymore.

During the week after Piccolo died, I didn't want another dog and was actually glad I hadn't gotten another one. I was so emotionally drained. Then, I felt like I really needed to hug a dog. I really needed to have a dog around. So I talked with the breeder and bought Minta :) I thought I would have to fly her up (she's from Georgia and I'm in Minnesota right now), but my dad needed a road trip fix and thought it was the perfect opportunity. So he drove down and got her.

She is so different from Piccolo, and I am so glad! At first, I didn't like it and I had trouble "bonding" with her. At first I thought it was because I had to get used to her, she would chill out more when she got older, she would be potty trained (ugh!), etc. I think I was just looking for Piccolo and not finding it, but I've come to love Minta for herself :) She is very happy (my future sister-in-law calls her "the happiest dog in the world"), easy going (she doesn't get the whole "discipline" thing and thinks it is all a game), loving, playful, excited, sweet, . . . Not saying Piccolo wasn't any of those things, but just different. I haven't taken a picture of her for a while (bad mama!), but I'll grab some pics . . .

That is the one that got me with her eyes on the breeder's site :)

Then for Toby, I loved watching him watch the cars go by! Does he bark? When you could start to hear the train, I was wondering if he would bark at it. I haven't gotten tired of Minta barking yet (she was so quiet for so long!), so I haven't started training her not to. I know from previous experience it is not a smart move, but she just sounds and looks so happy!

What a beautiful puppy your Minta! I LOVE JRT's!
I'm sorry about the loss of your friend, Piccolo!
Toby came into our lives immediately following the passing of my Mom's Great Pyrenees / Macy! Macy was such a love, but only lived for 6 months due to complications from demodectic mange.
Immediately after losing Macy, we searched through three rescue shelters ... in the first, there was a very cool JRT / but he was literally bouncin' off the walls ... at the third and last shelter we found Toby (who was originally called "Larry" during his stay at the shelter ... we changed it to Toby (short for October, the month in which we adopted him)...
One of the primary reasons I selected Toby is that he was the only one in the shelter (at the time of our visit) who was NOT barking! :) But, when necessary he definitely has a "guard dog" instinct with an intimidating attitude! Both my Mom and Toby live with me now, and they are a joy in my life!

[> [> re: side note for SFM -- BC, 10:31:03 06/05/12 Tue

- one of the main reasons for sharing this vid with ya is (in part) to illustrate beginning videography/editing "skills" which will hopefully improve by the end of the summer ... 'cause i've got a "kinda cool" project in mind
- thanks for listenin'
- hope you are still out there somewhere and that you are OK
- we really miss you 'round here SFM!
Hope you have a great rest of the week!
