Dear Mr. Mclennan...

I just finshed watching (again) my DVD set of Christy, You were fabulous as Dr. MacNeal. I actually live in Cocke County, Tennessee...the real home of Cutter Gap and have been to the real "Christy Misson" many times.

Did you enjoy this role?

Welcome to the board Sherry!

Stewart does come to the board from time to time, although he's been pretty busy with other things these days. But we hope you enjoy it here anyway!

Thank you, Neeney, for the warm welcome!

I am enjoying reading the posts of other "Stewart followers". I am a long time fan of his acting and was honored to meet him in Townsend, TN during his "Christy" tenure back in the early 1990's. I was thrilled to find this fan-site.

Hi, Sherry, hello Neeney,

Just happened to be checking in. You reminded me that I may be in need of a Christy fix myself. I spent most of the summer getting caught up on Larkrise to Candleford, a BBC series that has alot of the Christy charm.

Laura

I can never get enough "Christy" especially since the story is about my hometown... :)

Hi Sherry! I was born and raised in TN. And, a long-time fan of the Christy series. Yet, I've never visited the area of Cutter Gap nor seen the actual mission. I'm hoping to be able to visit that area sometime this summer!
Nice to meet you! Welcome to the board!

Welcome to the board, Sherry! It's nice to meet you.

I think I re-watch the original series every year or so. I recently watched the movies and now I'm in the mood to watch the series. Perhaps a re-watch "party" would be a good idea?

My 2 favorite episodes are Judgement Day and I can't think of the title of the second one, but it's wear Becky O'Teal gets Trachoma and Christy takes her to Dr. McNeil's cabin and they have to stay there because of the storm. It's the episode right after Judgement Day.

Anyone else realize/know that Dr. Ferrand in Judgement Day is the father in The Thornbirds? He couldn't continue with the role of Dr. Ferrand because he passed away a year or so after doing Judgement Day.

Actually, according to IMDB, Richard Kiley, who played Dr. Ferrand in Judgement Day, died in 1999. The Christy series was done in 1994-95. So the series was over even before he passed away.

I should have clarified he wasn't able to do the Christy movies because he had already passed away. I thought he passed away closer to the series ending than he did, but I was referring to the movies.

Have you seen the Christy movies? There are very few originals from the series on there and not because they passed away either. Even Kellie Martin, who played Christy in the series, didn't play Christy in the movies. Randall Batinkoff who played David in the series didn't play David in the movies.
Even Stewart had to re-audition for his part because they weren't just going to let him have it back. So I doubt they would have used the original Dr. Ferrand even if he hadn't passed away. It's sad really, because I think the movies would have been better with as many of the originals as possible.

I have seen and own the final movie. As much as I enjoyed Kellie Martin in the role of Christy, and I think she is a better actress than Lauren Lee, I really enjoyed the chemistry Stewart had with Lauren. I think she made the character a little more plausible in falling in love with Neil.

There was always a possibility that had Richard Kiley lived, he would have re-auditioned and gotten the part of Dr. Ferrand. I enjoyed him in the role more than the one used in the movies.
