Subject: And now for something completely different...

Last Thursday I was visiting with friends--friends who have young children--and was exposed to the phenomenon known as the Wiggles. For those of you that don't know, the Wiggles are a band that plays songs for young children. Their videos, CDs and TV shows are quite popular among the "little people". As I watched this video, I made the following observations:

1. The main band members' outfits look like classic Star Trek uniforms. I immediately became instinctively worried about Murray, the red-shirted one. :p

2. I find the "Wiggles Puppets" to be quite disturbing.

3. I take it "fruit salad, yummy yummy" is a running joke of some sort.

4. Obviously, these guys aren't Americans--not that there's anything wrong with that. The clues:

a. When discussing alternative uses for a guitar, they mention "cricket mallet" instead of "baseball bat".
b. The token minority is Asian, not black or Hispanic.
c. The funky accents are a dead giveaway. (I do mean "funky" is a very flattering sense, of course :-D).

As it turns out, they're Aussies, which is cool. After all, everyone loves Aussies, right Gok? :p

In any case, while I personally find the Wiggles to be a bit dull, there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with them and I'm not the target audience anyway. They do seem to be great fun for my very short friends, and I'd say that's the important thing.
