Even as a younger person, I knew enough to know that when "Dec 25 0000" was entered in as the date of the birth of Christ in Back to the Future, that that was inaccurate, because:

a. There is no year "0".
b. The year of his birth was miscalculated in the Sixth Century. He was actually born sometime from 7 to 4 BC.
c. He was probably born during the spring.

Then there the whole issue of why Christmas gets top billing when really the crux of history (according to Christian teaching) occured with his death and resurrection. Of course, that's because the tradition of gift giving has been seized upon and commercialized to ridiculous proportions. *shakes fist* Curse you, Wal-Mart!

Guy wearing "Wal-Mart" blue vest: You got tires from us really cheap last Saturday, and we're the only place in town that sells Transformers: Armada figures.

Bless you, Wal-Mart! Bless you, you kind, wonderful people!

*This bout of insanity is concluded. We now return you to our regularly scheduled post.*

Anyways, we did get some fireworks on the Fourth, but not the kind that we'd planned. A major thunderstorm ripped through town that evening: lots of branches and whole trees suddenly going in places that trees aren't supposed to go, like on top of cars and in living rooms. There was also a gas pipe rupture in one spot, necessitating an evactuation. I personally escaped unscathed, though. The part of town where I was escaped the carnage, and I even came home to a dry apartment even though my windows were open.
