Subject: Recruiting Transfan Football (Soccer) Team

I'm considering starting up a football (soccer) team comprised of Transfans and entering our team for competition in the University animé clubs league in Sydney.

For more information about the league, visit their website here.

As you can see on the leaderboard, current team rankings are:
1. SLUTS (Anime@UTS)
2. Tsunami Ninjas (SUanime - Got Ninja?)
3. Team Crunky (AUNSW - mmm... Crunky...)
4. SeeDs (UWS - inspired by Gundam)
5. XDE (AUNSW alumni team)
6. Mac Anime Antics (these guys are last cos most of their players never turn up to matches)

So yeah, if you're interested, LMK - drop me an
email (goktimusATlycosDOTcom) and give me your contact details, which suburb you live in and whether or not you have access to a car on Sundays (and if so, LMK if you'd be willing to pick up/drop off fans near your area). Once I get a sufficient number of people interested, I'll contact league officials and get ourselves listed as a new team for 2005.

Most of the other teams have uniforms - usually their club T-shirt (except for the UNSW teams, which have custom made uniforms). So if anyone here can get me a good deal on T-shirts/screen printing et al, please drop me a line.

If anyone already owns a soccer ball and is willing to bring it along to training sessions and matches, please LMK - as it would obviously save me from having to go out and buy one.

What You Need
- Purchase of team uniform (T-shirt), obviously I'll LYK how much it'll cost as soon as I find out... but I'll try to make it as cheap as possible (cos I'm a supreme tight-arse myself).
- Purchase of soccer shoes optional, otherwise just bring a good pair of sneakers.
- Commitment to attend regular training sessions and matches (possibly once a week or fortnight - it will always be on a weekend, and matches are usually held on a Sunday). There's little point in forming a team if players don't show, lest we end up like Macq Animé Antics where only one or two players on the team are from MacqU, with the rest being reserve players from other teams.
- Bring your own drinking water and snacks.

Training and Game Sessions
Training sessions involve basic practice of soccer skills such as passing, shooting, doing gauntlet runs etc. Most likely we'll hold our training sessions on the same day as the matches, training maybe 30min to an hour before the match starts. This would mean that we can compress training and match playing into the same day and the training would also serve as a good warmup before the game. Kickoff starts at 10:30 and 11:15, depending on which round we're playing in.

Venues
Venues are usually either Jones Park Parramatta, or Victoria Park at Sydney Uni. Sometimes we play at this park in Strathfield too. Neither of these venues are particularly easy to get to by public transport (although Victoria Park would be the easiest), so getting to these places by car is highly recommended.

Transportation
As mentioned before, I'll be collecting people's locations and vehicle access and try to put people in nearby areas in contact with each other to arrange a car pool. If you are the person who needs a ride, be prepared to chip in for cost of fuel, it's only fair (how much will be decided by the driver). Otherwise, if you don't mind a fair hike, you can walk to Jones Park from Parramatta Station and to Victoria Park from Redfern Station.

The more people who join, the better. Some of us may not be willing to play for an entire match, so having a few players in reserve is good. You might just play one half, and then swap with another player in reserve when you feel like you've had enough. Also, MacqU's team will need people to play for them (there's like only one dude from their side who turns up regularly)

Also, if anyone feels like designing a team mascot for our T-shirt, please drop me a line. I was thinking perhaps a picture of a Super Deformed Outback kicking a soccer ball. *shrug*
Give me both b&w and colour versions. I think printing in b&w (technically just black if we get white shirts) will be cheaper.
