I don't know that the size thing is an issue...it seems that the Armada Transformers are fully capable of reconstructing themselves into any body. If they didn't want to segregate themselves, I don't think they would have to.

Perhaps, though, the Minicons are smaller because of their economic situation? So that they would require less energy, maintenance materials, etc.?
