Challenging moments? Ahhhh, that's what makes it interesting! The conventions I helped to run were all funded by registrations - nothing more: any losses came out of the pockets of the organising committee. It's quite a thing to think at the start of the year that you owe £6,000 along with 7 of your mates who owe the same thing: there's nothing quite like that little sigh of relief you get when that one registration comes in that puts you over the "breaking even" line :-D That said running conventions is an excellent and very rewarding pastime - you're knackered, but nothing quite matches the feeling of being able to say "I did that" and point to something that has brought 800 people a lot of fun for four days.

So again, best of luck - don't let the challenging moments cloud the fact that you're out there doing it while a lot of people are just sitting on their arses doing nothing. I hope it goes well and believe me, if I could attend I would be there. And hey, if you ever do another one, I can always lend a hand with the graphic design/typesetting: that was my gig on the cons I worked on. I miss the convention organising scene, and wouldn't mind getting back into it.

Best of British to you Goktimus - and remember when all is said and done, there's a cold pint somewhere with your name on it! :-D
