Subject: book stores

Found two stores around Sydney CBD that have some books on martial arts:

1/ Kinokuniya -- Japanese book store chain has recently moved from Neutral Bay to the CBD. The store is a lot bigger now and has a much wider range of books. I checked out two sections in their stores for martial arts books -- the Japanese and English sports sections. The Japanese section (ie: the books are all written entirely in Japanese) had some books on Taiji and various other Japanese martial arts such as Karate, Jujutsu, Judo, Kenjutsu, Kendo, Kempo etc etc. The English section pretty much remains the same as it was in the old location -- few books on various different martial arts; Kung Fu (Yongchun, Xingyi, Wuzuquan etc), Karate, Judo, Aikido, Filipino Stick Fighting etc. Although these books averaged from $30-50 in price.

2/ I don't know the name of this store, but it's in Chinatown. Very small store and up a LOT of stairs. Inside a small room near the counter are books on Chinese martial arts, as well as another section of the store that sells VCDs on martial arts (though I've never watched one). They cover all sorts of styles including Praying Mantis, Baji sword fighting, Baguazhang (lots of books on that), Wuzuquan, Changquan, Nanquan, Taijiquan etc etc etc., and they're really cheap too -- ranging from about $4.50-6.00 in price. However, the vast majority of these books are available ONLY in Chinese. Not recommended for the Chinese language impaired.
