Subject: Attention regular users of #kungfu

I have now been given ownership of the #kungfu chat channel on austnet.

For those of you who previously had ops and have since lost them, here is what you'll need to know/do to get them back:

(1) Ops status will now ONLY be given to people who are practising, or have practised, a martial art -- in other words, people with some knowledge in martial arts. I am attempting to eliminate nepotism from the channel, so people who are friends of an operator will NOT be given ops status.

(2) To get ops on the channel, ask either myself or any of the operators with sufficient access level. You MUST tell them what martial art you are practising or have practised, then either one of them or I will add you to the list.

Other rules you all should be aware of:

* Operators: when adding a user, please ask them what martial art they are practising. Record the user's name and martial art, and send me a brief Email so I can add the user's name and martial art style to my records.

* I reserve the right to remove anyone from the access list, but rest assured that I won't do so unless I have a good reason. Two main reasons why a person would be removed would be: (a) inappropriate behaviour - this includes abuse of authority, (b) your knowledge of martial arts is either utterly incorrect or suspected of being non-existent -- please don't think you can fool us by saying that you do a martial art that none of us are currently doing, as some of us (including myself) have done extensive cross training and research in other styles apart from our own. So if it becomes suspicious that you're not doing a martial art, or if the martial art you're doing is bogus (and unfortunately, there are a LOT of bogus martial art schools out there), then your access will either be diminished or removed depending on circumstances.

If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
