Understanding Words is a complete reading program for children with dyslexia. It contains all the essential elements of reading instruction: phonological awareness, grapheme-phoneme conversion rules, decoding skills, sight word knowledge, spelling of regular words, reading of decodable texts, syntactic and morphological knowledge, and explicit comprehension strategies.
The program can be run in small groups and detailed scripts direct the teacher/parent on exactly what to do and say.
Understanding Words has been used with hundreds of children in our clinic and is currently used in over 100 schools. See our website for research on the effectiveness of the program.
