My sons school will not use the term Dyslexia either. Our neuropsychologist used the diagnosis of "reading disorder". Unfortunately, I don't feel that diagnosis gives a clear picture. It implies that he only has difficulty with reading. However, I have been able to get him all of the accomodations he needs under this diagnosis. Help with writing, being able to prove his knowledge orally and a multi-sensory reading program. I just don't understand why you can't say dyslexia when it is the most common learning disability. The NIH says 20% of people are effected by it, yet schools won't even say the word.
