I agree. You want to keep the flow going. You can triage the words. Supply any word the child misses, If it's a word he or she should learn, put it on your "special list" so that you canwork on it at another time. If it's too hard, just supply it (and tell the meaning if necessary). You can minimize these errors if you can control the vocabulary the way the old basals used to do. The trouble with leveled reading books is that you can't guarantee that a child has learned all the words first. I've rewritten nine fairy tales and prepare all the words for every one of them, with games for practicing all the new words for each book. Ann Turner www.mnemonicpictures.com
