That sounds very frustrating. We had difficulty getting out son--dx'ed with dyslexia in 2nd grade through a private evaluation--an IEP in our local public school. He is apparently too functional, although his reading & other academics really lag (in our opinion). We had the option to move him to a private school for kids with dyslexia, so it's taken the fight out of it for us. But I'm not sure what will happen when he finished there in 8th grade.
