My 11yo dyslexic son has finally started to have support in school, previous to that we have hired private tutors and even sent him to a summer camp for dyslexic children. While in the LRC (Learning Resources Centre) he misses Foreign Language, which is a relief for him. He would be mortified to miss PE, IT or art which is where his strentghs are.
The extra support has been great. For the first time we (my husband and I) have had a general meeting with all the teachers (including the Middle School headteacher) to make sure we are all doing what is best for my child.
The LR teacher participates in some of the English classes and is well aware of all challenges my son experiences. During the separate sessions in the LRC class, she works with him in a small group, supports homework and prepares for exames. So far so good!!!
