I was heartened by your learning journey with your son. I work as a Resource Teacher of Learning and Behaviour in New Zealand. On my case load, I work with several students with dyslexia. I think it is great you have supported your son very closely over the years and willing to support and guide him through challenging times. I think it is great your son has identified his interests and strengths and can excel in the sports arena. This is a great example of a student using their compensatory strengths. Keep up the great supportive work as a parent. Kia Kaha (This is a Maori saying in New Zealand, which means 'stay strong'). All the best with your future learning journey-with your son.
