I hope you realize what you're asking me to do. If I diagnose one of Blackwell's ghouls with cancer and send her off to SEATTLE, of all places, it will have big repercussions for me. I have no doubt that Blackwell could trace it back to me with ease, and I have no doubt that he would make me pay. He is already looking for a reason to kill me, I think. If I do this, I'll probably have to go into hiding, possibly with the Anarchs. Because it's you, however, and because it's your sister, and especially because it's Blackwell, I'd be willing to do this.
The only idea you suggested that seems realistic is the brain tumor, simply because she could find treatment for any of the other ailments much closer to home. Even with cancer, it'll be a hard sell to convince her (not to mention her HMO) to send her to Seattle and not to Sloan-Kettering.
As for the possibility of it, convincing her she has a tumor would be trivial. Most people don't even know the shape of their own head, let alone what a tumor looks like, and I could easily slap some random x-ray or cat scan up and scare the crap out of her with stories. Convincing medical people would be slightly harder, because I'd have to take a picture of her brain and alter it. Fortunately, most brain tumors are of uniform density, and it wouldn't be too hard to but an appropriate blotch in there somewhere.
They real trick is convincing the doctors in Seattle. What could is it if we get all the way to Seattle, and then the experts look at her, declare a misdiagnosis, and send her right back? Obviously, her "condition" must stand up under independent diagnosis.
The only ways I can think of accomplishing this are a) place an object in her brain, or b) actually give her cancer, neither of which is an option I'm particularly wild about. For one thing, brain cancer is treatable, but UNCURABLE, and the only way to insure it doesn't kill her would be to make her a vampire. I'm not even sure if being a ghoul would prevent growth.
As for putting an object in her brain, that has the benefit of being completely untreatable (no amount of radiation can cause rubber to go into remission), but we run the risk of damaging her with treatment. Chemotherapy is very hard on a body. Secondly, I'm not a neurologist, and I'm not confident that I wouldn't injure her or cause her brain damage in the process of giving her a 'symptom.'
Finally, I told you I'm willing to become an outlaw in order to protect an innocent and to strike a blow at Oliver, but I am NOT willing to injure someone for this cause. As I see it right now, the things you are suggesting are simply beyond my moral boundaries.
So we have a dilemma: anything serious will put her in too much danger, anything not to serious will no be sufficient cause for her to go to Seattle.
Any thoughts?
Some other ideas: What does your sister do for a living? Could she get an unrefusable offer from someone out west? Could your sister come out for a vacattion or a visit? I'm sure she's much closer to her brother than her doctor. What about telling the truth and revealing to her exactly how she's being taken advantage of and convincing her to flee? After all, she has a vampire for a brother and a puppet for a father, so if any mortal deserves to know, it's her.
Any thoughts on this, either?
Cliff
