The energy was being drained away from Victor quickly. He could feel his body weakening, and in the next moment it was over. He floated freely and felt his body become light. His head was a bit dizzy, and his vision was blurry, but he could make a definite light coming from in front of him. So this is what death is like, he couldn�t help thinking to himself, but why does my head hurt so much still�With an outstretched hand, Victor reached towards the light, hoping something-anything-would pull him into it. He did not want to go in the opposite direction, knowing what that would mean for the rest of eternity.

The light sparked and then flickered out. The other landing lights now made the clear outline of his ship. It had been his ship�s headlight. Somehow, it had turned on. With the sudden realization that he wasn�t dead, Victor panicked. He twisted about looking for the location of the creature. With a sudden screech, he figured out it was directly behind him. Flipping on his booster, he spun around quickly. If death was going to come now, he was going to face it. The monster floated directly in front of him now-just starring. It let out another screech, a screech of recognition if there is such a thing.

It�s one of them, Victor thought. I�d heard of this happening before, but I never imagined I would ever see one in this state.

�Go back home! Get!!� Victor waved his hands. With reluctance, the creature turned and left, leaving Victor floating alone in space.
