Subject: "Let's go."

Steele's optics went wide as a red glow surrounded the fallen 1ne and Deborah's telekinesis levitated him as easily as a child's doll. Yet to look at the strain on her face, one would see the task was far more challenging. Slowly, he lowered to the floor once more. Deb ran a hand across her brow, clearing beads of sweat, and brushed blood from her nose with some concern. But 1ne took precedence now; she promised herself she'd talk later to Edward about some of her recent...problems.

"Come on, soldier! I have to get him transfused as soon as possible, and I can't do it here! You have a problem with that all of a sudden, have Grim speak to me! I can't move him alone; help me get him to the medlabs! Move him quick, and move him carefully, blast you! He NEEDS to be treated!"

Deborah was breathing rapidly now; this business with Ali had really rattled her and, after being exposed to how the child felt about these strangers...she found herself starting to care as well. Steele didn't deserve to be spoken to so angrily; the business in the Docking Bay was one of many screw-ups to some, but even her relationship with Justin Grey had given her some insight into the military world. There are certain things that defy standard protocol, and improvisation is rarely touched upon at the academy. But after the way Ali lost her father.....Scaleblade's initial assault may have been unprovoked, but could the soldiers have handled the situation any differently? Logically, Deb knew when options existed and when they did not. But emotionally...she thought of a scenario in which Ali's father and his men had acted differently, one in which he was still alive because different decisions had been made. For a moment, her surroundings seemed to blur in odd square areas, and she could nearly picture Brian McCormick lifting Ali on his shoulders. She rubbed her eyes, and looked again as Ali entered carrying something strange, small and spherical.

Her anger with Steele was displaced, but she still wished the soldier would hurry. For Lost_1ne, time could be running out...
