In reply to: Howitzer 's message, ""Well, if that is all...."" on 17:02:34 09/06/01 Thu

"Do any doubt Roadrage's decision now? His chosen Captain? Howitzer's logical place as his brother's successor in SBR High Command?

Balos?

Arctic?

Barrage?

Barrage, my Decepticon comrade, I know of the four of us you took Roadrage's weakness the hardest. You respected the Autobot for his honor and courage, and the fact that he succumbed to a WR@ temptation, and ultimately took his own life...do not judge Howitzer for that. No, he will handle this station even better privy to our secrets now...at least, the ones we choose to share. Does knowing about strings impair the puppet?"

The old man breathed heavily into his oxygen mask, and tapped a contol on his motorized chair, rolling away from the table down a ramp that elevated him to the same height as his three Cybertronian counterparts. He activated monitors of the various sections of Starbase Rugby.

"Let us see what has transpired while we occupied our Captain, shall we? The situation with the NOVA*Beacon seems resolved now. What situation? Why it seems by these reports the TLA acquisition was out of control, heading toward the memorial of those who fell against the WR@. Perhaps neither would have been a great loss...personally, the sooner a new flagship is built the better. The NOVA*Beacon's independence, the fact that it was once a tool of Nebulans...too unpredictable, no? And I'm certain the idea that it's composed of the bodies of Cybertronian's like yourselves...well, whether their merged spark is in control now or not, it must still strike you as a grim concept.

The slowest trial in this or any other SPUniverse has proceeded...but not concluded. Dinotron is a threat to our station and our way of life. Barristro or not, Masonite and Nores best not screw this one up. Sharkticon attorney indeed...!

Several interesting reports from Operations...seems as though we've yet another prison break and injury. The brig should be better bolstered by now! Perhaps Howitzer did focus too much on morale...huh. This Operations report also makes mention of some amateur jewel theives...it's doubtful there's anything to it as this group spoke in public openly of it, but tails have been assigned all the same. More wasted resources? I'm not even certain what they seek is aboard this station! Finding the escapee would seem the priority.

The AOD official has departed. Perhaps you might return the visit at some point Barrage, or send a representative? The AOD bears as much observation as the Cybertronian Council, wouldn't you all agree? We've worked hard to protect what we've built, to keep our independence. Once before a Counciller tried unsuccessfully to contact Howitzer. Now that he knows of us, we're better prepared to handle inevitable future encounters. Perhaps the team investigating this reawakened Bastion may salvage some useful technology to bolster Rugby.

Do you see how much there is to be done, fellow councillers? We sit here in the shadows, silently behind-the-scenes. Howitzer has exceeded his departed brother's expectations time and again! What I have shown you is but a glimpse of what he and his subordinates deal with on a daily basis! The mental blocks I encountered, the difficulty in restoring the memories I myself blocked....those will be overcome, I promise you. But you will not be disappointed with how Howitzer handles the challenges and tasks I have just given you a taste of!"

M'Ceef fell silent as the others regarded him. The telepath seethed inwardly; he knew he had been too outspoken for once, and hoped he hadn't overplayed his hand. The others were no fools; they all monitored the events around the station as much as he did, all had their own interests, both mutual and independent. But as the only human, M'Ceef felt at times apart. The old man wondered if in overcompensating, he had merely insulted them by pointing out the obvious. He had breifed them on many things, but not all. Strangely enough, the alien which had concerned him the most was not mentioned. He looked at the monitor displaying the medlabs for a long time before switching it off. He leaned back, closed his eyes, and let his mind wander. There was no turning back now that Howitzer was in, and the Autobot would restore the balance to the Co5. The slant in Arctic and Barrage's favor would now be offset, but they all had their secrets. M'Ceef knew that as much help as Howitzer would now be, he posed as much a threat to him as the others. And that placed the Captain himself in a jeopardy he would never be aware of until potentially too late...
