Subject: nitpicking is dangerous!

well, only to your blood pressure, i guess. i've watched this series since the very beginning. i'd watched magnum before that, as a little kid, and it was probably part of the reason why i wanted to be an officer in the military from that young an age. and now, having done my military thing in the midst of JAG being on the air, i can say that it's so much harder to watch now. the little details drive me CRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAZY! even if i'm totally enjoying the darn episode, i'm mentally fixing rank insignia, ribbons...and tell me how Mac is a double expert in the pistol and rifle. i never met anyone who went in on a law contract who double qualled! i admire the fact that she's supposed to be a strong woman, but Singer is more realistic as a female in the military. i should know, i was one of them. females, particularly officers, are up to 80% on the whole very catty, very willing to dime each other out, and very eager to walk over anybody to get the few promotions that get fewer as you get higher in rank. Mac, to me at least, is a complete fiction as far as female marines go, and the only reason that it's ever bothered me is because we all felt as we watched the show (at our weekly gatherings) that she didn't exactly give us a good name. it's hard enough putting up with the assumptions of lesbian activity. our instructors at OCS would have called what she does "showing your ass", and it's just a little disappointing is all. at least she could strap on a sports bra when she PT's. i hope nobody thinks i'm trashing too hard, that's not what i want anybody to get out of this. i like the show (except the whole issue of Bud losing a limb) a lot, and it, like Magnum and Major Dad, has done a lot for the image of the people who risk themselves every day to defend our constitution.

last thought: anybody else get the feeling they're setting up Harm to take the fall for something happening to Singer?
