Alex was very nearly taken offguard. He didn't know how things were run around the Council, but right off the bat, he could tell that Netwave's intrusion was quite unwelcome. He had to admire how Prowl was handling the matter, but he couldn't shake the feeling that he simply didn't trust her. He had no idea what two 'bots' she was talking about. He hadn't seen anyone arrive since he and Orbital had entered not long before...

It wasn't just that, though. It was the tone of her voice, the shiftiness in her gaze, the nervoussness of her changing the subject towards him. Most of all, it was the way she had hesitated when she had answered Prowl. Something about it made him uneasy, like she was deliberately leaving something out. Alex had been raised to perceive deception in even the most clever beings. Netwave may be good at her work, but even she couldn't fool Alex, young and inexperienced or not.

I am Councilor Byron, yes. And Senator Shelley is of my blood. What business it is of your's is a question I'd like answered now.

He had answered her question, but done only that. He would not put his guard down until she satisfied the gnawing in his stomach that said she was not to be trusted. And the way she was going as it was, he didn't see her gaining his trust any time soon...
