Author: Nightshade
Subject: Nightshade was indeed glaring at her.
In reply to: Netwave 's message, "Netwave felt her jaw go slack, she qivered slightly and then she chuckled." on 11:20:00 09/05/02 Thu

Nightshade grew more and more irate with Netwave with every word she spoke to him. And his hardened face showed it quite clearly.

The truth, girl? You assure me everything you speak is the truth? So be it.

He slowly strode over to where she still sat on the floor, and crouched down to her eye level.

The truth hurts at times.

What you are telling me is that the AOD has sent not only ONE operative, but now TWO to spy on two differing factions of the Cybertronian Government. A Government with which the AOD has, up until now, been on good terms with.

Now you tell me that you were sent here to..."gather information"? I must say, even with that little Visa you presented to Prowl, you have gone about gathering information in a most...disrespectable sort of way.Using your little bugs to infiltrate not only the Council Building, but the Senate itself, and even to view the goings-on of a Senate meeting.

Tell me, dear, what would happen to the good-will that exists between the Cybertronian Government and the AOD if it was found out that the AOD sends operatives to spy on high-ranking officials? Hmm?

Spying is not looked very kindly upon in any government. In fact, I would certainly consider it...

Nightshade stood, towering over her once more.

Treason.

Now her eyes fell from his. He smirked back at her, now once more not quite glaring. Had she looked at him now, she would have seen something perhaps more...sinister in his gaze. He opened his mouth to speak again, but was cut off by the beep of his wrist-bounc communicator.

Nightshade! Where are you right now?

Nightshade sighed, and rolled his eyes. He pointed at Netwave. Still your tongue, and say not one word. He raised his wrist up a bit, and spoke back to Cliffjumper. Down the hall a just a bit, Cliffjumper. With the girl. What do you want?

You're needed outside. There seems to be some sort of altercation on the streets, and Prowl wants us to try and stem the panic. Get out here, pronto.

Nightshade's jaw went rigid, and his eyes drew narrow. I'm...on my way out now. I'll meet you out there. Nightshade out.

He immediately switched his CommLink off, cutting off any response Cliffjumper may have had. He smiled at Netwave, who had remained silent during the conversation. Casting his eyes down from her at last, he stepped over to a small computer terminal. He pressed a couple buttons, and finally, a low power, dim light swept across the room, lighting up features otherwise invisible in the dark.

He turned and looked at Netwave again. If you look around you, my dear, you'll notice that the room we are in is far from a normal one. The structures you see around you are the prototypes of several devices invented by Perceptor and, more importantly, Orbital. It is the latter name you should concern yourself with now.

You noticed, I'm sure, that upon your arrival, Orbital had gone for a switch. He was stopped by Prowl, as you also know. We've established that you're a very curious sneak. Care to fathom a guess as to what Orbital had aimed to do?

Netwave remained silent. He nodded, and pressed a small switch. Directly above her head, the ceiling opened, and out dropped a large silver sphere. The floor she was sitting on suddenly raised up several inches. As she looked, wide-eyed, she realized the piece of floor she was resting on was circular in shape. The edges of the disc curved upward suddenly, so she was standing in something that greatly resembled a large bowl.

I must be away, sadly, to leave you to your own devices. But don't worry. You won't be going anywhere. This is the prototype of one of my favorite toys in the Council Building. I hope you enjoy your stay!

With that, he flipped a final switch. Much to Netwave's horror, the sphere above her sprouted several silver tentacles, which snaked down in an instant. They wrapped around her body, and lifted her bodily off the disc below her. They wrapped around her waist, her neck, her arms. Within a moment, she found she couldn't move.

But the machine wasn't finished.

The bowl shaped disc below her began to glow teal around the edges. Before she could utter a scream, an energy field sprang up around her from the edges, encasing her in an egg-shaped, see-through teal prison. Perceptor had once used the offspring of this device against Talamac when he had first appeared in the Council Building. While this prototype was much bulkier and much more crude in its design, Nightshade was very happy with the results.

He smiled at her once more as he stepped away from the control panel (which now was receeding into the wall behind it). I'll be seeing you, girl. Perhaps this will teach you not to meddle in the affairs of those you know nothing about.

Curiosity, after all, did kill the cat.

With a flourish, he turned and strode out of the door they had come in through. It sprang shut directly behind him, and he locked it on the outside, making sure no other Councilor or Operative would stumble across her. With a smug laugh, he strode through the hall to join the others on the streets.

Inside the Prototype room hung one young AOD officer in a situation she had never fathomed she'd find herself in. And with no way out...
