Subject: Always loved any feis in Columbus - like Buckeye and Dublin but Buckeye probably no more since Millennium no more. Like the ones in Dayton and Kentucky too.

[> [> [> Tale as old as time, conflict between TCRGs and the students pay the price -- (Former) Millennium parent, 04:04:18 01/29/23 Sun (adsl-75-61-167-165.dsl.irvnca.sbcglobal.net/75.61.167.165)

The owner TC has been overseas for 18 months and entrusted an employed TC to mind the shop. There were several differences of opinion that came to a head right around Oireachtas. Since owner TC has been living out of the region for sometime, she could not be registered with the school. Employed TC decided to go back and teach at Irwin Academy leaving our dancers with the following choices -
1. Follow her to Irwin and no 6 month ban since she was the registered TC at the school.
2. Stay at Millennium- which was sold/merged with Dwyer - but serve the 6 month ban because none of their TCs were registered with Millennium at the time of employed TCs resignation.
3. Transfer to another school in the area and serve the 6 month ban.
4. Quit dance
Those of you that are in the dance community, and especially those in Columbus can understand how something like this would affect your dancer and family. Also the timing was poor as OC dancers only had 4-5 days to research and make a decision in order to compete at North American Nationals and get one Feis (Louisville/Lexington) in before NANs.
We have unofficially heard from CLRG (they had a zoom meeting on Friday to discuss the multiple applications to lift the ban) that a one day exemption will be allowed for Worlds only but all other dancers must serve the full 6 month ban.
This especially stinks for dancers trying to qualify for Oireachtas because they lose six months of feising through no fault of their own.
So it boils down to a conflict between the two TCs that couldn’t be resolved amicably and the dancers have to pay the price. There’s a lot of contention on both sides and a lot of “she said-she said”, but there is plenty of blame to be shared and no one thought of how this would affect the dancers and families in the end, whether the dancer had been there 1 year or 10 years.
