Date Posted: 21:12:26 10/09/07 Tue In reply to: Will 's message, "Is there a way to play pianodiscs on a pianocorder?" on 12:55:19 10/09/07 Tue You could search for a used Electric Orchestra MC-2 box (about $500 new) which adds a MIDI input jack to the Pianocorder, then connect that to a Yamaha DCD1 (special external CD player for the Disklavier which can decode PianoDisc, QRS and Yamaha CDs to MIDI). There are a few problems with that solution, though: the sync between the piano and CD accompaniment might not be right, the expression conversion of the MC-2 is not very good, and PianoDisc has started adding a primitive "encryption" to their CDs to thwart playback on non-PianoDisc systems. Yamaha will probably never update the DCD1 to handle this change in format. You might contact the folks at Invisitouch - they have the ability to convert individual PianoDisc CDs to Pianocorder format. Also, eBay seller "dvd-coming-attractions" seems to have this capability as well. [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
