Knightmare paced back and forth, his sword jammed in the ground. Gerard was sitting on a rock, staring at the swastika torn off his jacket.

"Swordsman...I have a request...draw your weapon."

Knightmare gave him an odd glance. Gerard just nodded, despair in his eye. The zweihander was jerked from the soil.

"Your wish?"

"Kill me."

"What?!" Knightmare screamed. Gerard just stared at him; the misery had not left his pale eye.

"I cannot live like this. What is this symbol? What house of Manches do I come from? Why am I still alive when I know the Pit is dead?! Its fires no longer burn in my hollow carcass! The only place I can find answers is in the Infinity Tavern...the legendary bartender sees almost everything...."

Knightmare didn't know what to say. "Speak nothing. Just slay me. Now! Strike me down, swordsman!"

Knightmare slowly moved closer to Gerard.

"Kill him."

The voice pierced his mind. "Kill him...come closer...kill him...." Knightmare gave a pained shout as the voice continued. "Kill him. Kill him. KILL HIM!!!"

Gerard looked down at the sword that had pierced his body. He felt the blade sticking out of his back. The bandages masking his face covered a pained smile; his eye rolled back....

Knightmare pulled his sword out of Gerard's corpse. "Come closer...closer...." The swordsman fell to his knees as the painful voice resumed its cryptic messages. His zweihander fell to the ground and took on a bizarre aura; the glow was blinding. He felt a tugging sensation, which grew harder and harder. Eventually, the force was tearing his flesh. The sword had mysteriously risen into the air, pulling Knightmare closer. A hand clasped onto the hilt....

And they were gone. Not to a dream world, not to a bar of the damned, no....

Knightmare looked around him. He was standing in the middle of a castle in ruins. Who's, he could not tell. He was no longer holding the demonic blade; a new zweihander was in his hands. In the reflection of the sword in his hand, he saw himself...he wasn't the monster Idola commanded. He was Sigfried. The scar, the Aryan look, it was all there.

"Sigfried!"

Sigfried looked away from the weapon. In the distance stood a horrific soldier, clad in dark blue armor. The breastplate was melded with a hideous arm that resembled the abomination Sigfried once had. It held a twisted sword with an eye that stared at Sigfried balefully.

"What do you want?!" Sigfried shouted. His new armor shined in the falling sunlight. The azure knight strode forward. The two horn-like crests on the massive hand made the being look even more menacing. His burning eyes were all that could be seen of his face, his helm masked all.

"Come closer...."

Sigfried took a step forward, clutching the sword tightly. The cerulean swordsman still approached. The two were a few feet apart. "You are ours...."

The armored creature grabbed Sigfried by the neck and drew him close. "Succumb. There is no escape."
