I was in the local Target store one day, and I heard this familiar bass line. It some kid listening to "I Still Haven't Found..." a radio for sale. Unable to merely walk by, I had to ask the kid what station he was listening to.

Another story goes as so: I was sitting in class one day, not paying too much attention to the daily news program. When they played music for the birthdays, I heard this catchy percussion sequence and, in a second, a guitar rising and falling on the notes of "Numb." Everybody started staring at me when, in a breathless pant, I pointed at the Television and proclaimed, "That's U2! That's U2!"
