Well I too have been worried about that, but it depends on how far the mp3s are floating, are they reaching towards the music fans who listen to U2 sometimes, or just in the realm of U2 fans. Tne realm of U2 fans will be buying the album anyway. I think it depends on how well U2, and how well the fans promote it. And how well the radio promotes it. What U2 does is up to them, but I would highly suggest that if any U2 fan would want to help promote the album is just spread the word about U2's new album coming out October 30/31 to the people who you know. And demand that your radio stations play Beautiful Day or whateverelse comes out of the album.
The mp3 is going to be out there, whether it's one U2 site, or it's another U2 site, the only people who usually check out the site's are U2 fans who will buy the album anyway. The problem is, alot of fans think it's better to get the mp3 from Napster or Scour Exchange rather than the website's like this that have it avaliable. But by having it in napster or Scour Exchange, your spreading it to others who only listen to U2 once in a while and find them an "ok" band, and only that.
Now think about it, there's twice as many U2 hit song files on Napster than there are rare song files. And you can tell that they're not just songs that came off of albums that weren't hits, they're the hits like "One" and "With Or Without You" ect ect ect....and the only reason those song files are on there, and on non-U2 fans hard drives, is because they heard the song on the radio, even if the Internet wasnt around, it still was about how well the band promoted the song, or how well the radio let them promote it. I don't see too many users on there with the song "Wake Up Dead Man". It depends on how good the song is in the user's eyes. Those music listeners are in it for the hits, not the albums, a fan is a fan because they like alot of the music, and they're going to buy alot of the music, and they're going to download alot of the music. Someone who has With Or Without You on there computer probably will never download something like the Holy Joe Remix, or the Lemon(Perfecto Mix).
