Subject: TMA I

I am currently going back and completing TMA I & J as i had missed them out in favour of getting stuck into the VB code!

I am not sure if it is an error in the book or me being stupid but i can't figure out the calculations in part 2 of TMA I. At the bottom of page 140 it says the wastage is calculated simply as the width of the moulding times 8. Then at the top of page 141 it says the calculation becomes: amount of moulding - Perimeter + wastage
then the formula for price of moulding is:
price of moulding = amount of moulding x price per foot

Are these formula's correct and if so can someone give me an example of how the calculations tie in with each other?

It seems unclear what is being calculated as bottom of page 140 is talking about wastage and top of page 141 give a calculation for amount of moulding. I have assumed that the formula for amount of moulding is
amount of moulding = ( (length + breadth) x 2) + (width of moulding x 8) )
and that we set the price per foot of moulding ourselves.

I really want to get these finished so i can forget about the written stuff and concentrate on the programming.

any help is appreciated

Simon
