Author: DB.9.2
Subject: A Spark Is Not Just For Christmas.

Two Autobots quietly carried a hover-stretcher between them bearing what appeared to be a wrecked retrofitted tank drone from the Docking Bay.

They entered a log of the accident and submitted their charge, DB.9.2, to a refitting surgery.

However a written-off drone is a low priority in a ward where injured sentient organics and mechanoids regularly require emergency treatment of one kind or another. So DB.9.2 gradually fell of the day's waiting lists and was placed in a storage room for later attention.

* * * *

In the darkness of the storage room not even a mouse stirred. Rodents of any kind where virtually unheard of on Rugby these days.

"A lonely Christmas," said a metallic voice as a Transformer stepped to the edge of the dim pool of light cast by the neon strip illuminating DB.9.2's battered frame. It walked around the circle of light, azure eyes fastened onto the ex-Vehicon product.

"'All things strive'," he quoted gently, and cupped his palms infront of his torso. A gently pounding white Spark emerged from the Transformer's torso and rested between its hands.

"'To live, to proliferate.'" It moved it's hands apart slowly and the Spark began to divide into two equal measures, both equal in size to the original. The Transformer motioned with its left hand and one Spark re-entered its body. The other filled with a blue light and rested on the tip of the Transformer's right index finger.

"I see! I hear! I touch! I taste! I feel! I think! I know!" cried the Transformer as the blue Spark gently drifted into DB.9.2's chassis and took root. The ex-drone's shell shivered for a moment, then began to unbuckle, straightning. A severed claw reattached itself to a wrist socket whilst the cracked vision cleared. Tracks rewove themselves and servos realigned.

DB.9.2 lurched upright and fell off its table. The other Transformer stepped backwards and sublimed out of view. The resurrected ex-Vehicon looked down at its tag plate and pulled it loose, letting it clatter to the floor.

The newly awoke Transformer trundled out of the storage room to discover life.

A small chuckle followed it.

"Merry Christmas. Have one on me."
