Subject: My last review of the season

Pity the season finale didn't have a lot of sketches, but hey, it was still good. Let's go with this.

Cold Open #165: THis was a killer absurd sketch. Great dialogue, clever jabs at SNL's cliched sketches, nice use of meta-humor ("I never meta-humor I didn't like"), zany characters, weird situations... a wonderful way to kick off the show.

Monologue: The idea of everyone using inner monologues was interesting, but the dialogue wasn't really that funny. Sorry.

Hello Kitty: I think everyone knows the point I was trying to make with this sketch: those dolls are f**king creepy!

Non Sequitur: I really want to thank Prateek, the master of non-sequiturs, for helping me with this sketch. When I heard Zach Braff was returning, I wanted to bring back his character of game show host Layne Stephens, and Prateek helped inspire the premise of the show he hosted this time.

The Dude Show: This had too many pop-culture and sex references for my liking, plus, as I've said before, I don't really think random insertion of song titles and lyrics makes something funny. Sorry.

Customer Disservice: This was inspired by a series of Dilbert strips where the company bought a number of binders from "Deadly Binders, Inc.", which ended up injuring the employees greatly. I kept the general idea but applied it to bandages and first aid supplies. I had some self-doubt regarding the bit where the service rep is talking to the woman whose foot was blown off by the blister pad, since instead of saying she's going to sue the company for mutilating her, she simply wants a refund. But then I thought that it added another level of humor to the piece: she's just lost a major appendage, and instead of being distraught and mad as hell, she acts as though it's a minor annoyance. I'll just have to see what others think of it.

The National Department of Non Sequiturs: Wow, two non-sequitur themed sketches in a show. It was a popular premise this week. I see Justin decided to go with non sequitur lite (using random words instead of statements), but it was carried out very well. The insertion of those wierd words into normal conversation and the results they gathered were quite funny. Welcome back Justin, thanks for the great sketch. BTW, I thought it was spelled "dicksicle".

Well, that's it. See you for the summer season. Be sure to get those mock host nominations in!
