I remember that one of my favorite things to do as a kid was a picnic. There are lots of good places to picnic in Polk county, along creeks and riverbanks that do not cost any money.
why don't you plan a day when you take your whole meal to the river and eat it.
you might call the forest service or state parks to find out where there is a free site.
