Mariah reached the tree where Aaron and Rhia were. She chewed her nail nervously, keeping her distance. She watched carefully, wondering how long he was going to keep on like this.

Aaron felt the balloon's water splatter him, half-soaking him as well. He cursed darkly under his breath, in no mood for any games today. Pushing himself up, he flicked his cigarette out and balanced himself out on his crutches. He went as fast as he could back to the front yard, his head killing him.

Mariah watched him leave silently. "Sh!t," she cursed under her breath. She followed her brother at a distance, wishing he would just stop it. She hated to see him this upset.

When Aaron reached the porch, he sat down hard on the steps. He dropped his crutches beside him, and leaned back against the top step, resting his elbows on the surface. He closed his eyes and wished silently to himself that he wasn't here, f---ing everyone else's lives up.

Mariah approached him slowly, and sat down beside him. She held her hands across her bent knee, and asked, "Aaron, why are you acting this way?"

Aaron shrugged and asked, "Well if you f---ed up peoples lives the way I do, wouldn't you act the same way?"

Mariah frowned, figuring she best let him cool off before giving an sisterly affection to her step brother. She got up and went back inside, leaving Aaron alone for now.
